Bitbucket is investigating a massive outage affecting Atlassian Bitbucket Cloud customers worldwide, with the company saying its cloud services are “hard down.”
This web-based version control repository hosting service, owned by Atlassian, helps developers and teams collaborate on software projects by managing code, tracking changes, and integrating with other tools for development workflows.
Bitbucket is popular among small teams and large enterprises using Atlassian’s ecosystem of tools and is particularly appealing to those looking to integrate source control with project management tools like Atlassian Jira.
In April 2019, Atlassian said that over 10 million registered users used its Bitbucket Cloud services to manage 28 million repositories.
Bitbucket operations down in a major outage
According to hundreds of user reports on DownDetector, the incident started over two hours ago and is impacting the website, server, and file access.
This major ongoing outage is currently affecting all its services, according to BitBucket. The list of impacted services includes the website, API, Git via SSH, Authentication and user management, Git via HTTPS, Webhooks, Source downloads, Pipelines, Git LFS, Email delivery, Purchasing & Licensing, and Signup.
In an incident report published on the official status page one hour ago, the company said, “We are investigating an issue with Bitbucket Web and Git operations that is impacting Atlassian Bitbucket Cloud customers.”
Thirty minutes later, the company announced it was probing an issue with a “saturated Bitbucket database that impacts all Bitbucket operations.”
Bitbucket added that it was still looking for a solution and said it would provide more details within the next hour.
